Hoy un buena dia -- Today is a good day!

Espero aprender rapido!

Today was a good first day! In the morning our host mom (mama Tica!) made us a breakfast of fruit, cereal, toast, coffee, and home made juice. It was really good! After breakfast Ty and I walked to Universidad Veritas--the University we are attending--with three other girls who are staying in the same house as us. Since our host mom took us the first day, Ty and I knew the directions and we had to help the others. When we got to the University, we went through orientation, which included a small group tour and a big meeting with all the students. I think there are probably sixty to eighty students from the USA studying at Universidad Veritas.

Universidad Veritas is very pretty. One of the cool things about it is that it's inside and outside at the same time. Some places the ceiling is all the way or partially open, and other places, they bring the outdoors to you.

This is a small study area surrounded by trees.. I think Ty and I found our new hangout! :)

Outside is even prettier. From our college we have a great view of San Jose and the surrounding mountains. It's the rainy season, so the weather is usually pretty good in the morning, but in the afternoon it clouds up and rains.

In the afternoon we found out what classes we are in. I'm proud to announce that I was placed in Beginners Spanish 2! Just a step above Beginners Spanish 1, which Ty will be taking, but I'm glad three years of Spanish in high school counted for something! Our padres Ticos (Costa Rican parents) say we should be fluent by Wednesday. Ha.

Anyway, I hope that Ty and I learn quickly! I've already learned a lot, and I believe by the end of the month we should be able to get around alright! :)

Also, what would this post be without a little bit of humor? For your viewing pleasures:
That's one door handle I don't want to touch. ;)
